Business Analysis

Get complete documentation of the requirements for your planned systems, so that you can start the development project with clear objectives.  Align strategies and current resources, and minimize risks.

My experience as a business analyst includes writing complete requirements documents for system development projects in securities trading and insurance, back office operations manuals for commercial banking, and documents used for senior management decision-making in a variety of industries.  I produce documents that are technically accurate while also being easy to understand.

Business Requirements Documentation

This is the detailed document in a software development project which tells the developers what is needed in the new system.

Through experience writing complete specification documents, and then working with the development teams to turn those specifications into actual working systems, I have learned how to produce a document which developers can understand and use. The quality of this document has a large impact on how quickly and smoothly the development process can proceed.

When the lead developer decides which team members will work on which parts of the system, he will use this document as the basis for decision-making. When the document accurately presents the complexity of a function (or the simplicity of a function), this will correspond closely to the amount of time and effort the developers will spend implementing it.

Development teams around the world use English language documents as their starting point. However, some of the lower level coders might need to translate parts of the English into their own language. For that reason, there is value in writing English in a way that can be easily translated by translation software. I have developed a writing style which works well with off-shore development teams.

I have worked with development teams in these countries.
