Fix and improve MS Office VBA programs (Excel and Access)
Many firms have developed tools in Excel and Access over years (maybe decades) to support regular workflow automation. It is very common for these tools to need some kind of updating or modifying, but the person who originally wrote the software is no longer working in the company.
I can step in, diagnose, and fix Microsoft Office VBA applications. (In most cases this will be Excel or Access. If necessary, I can handle the communication with other software such as Microsoft Outlook, RPA software, or to databases.)
• Make required changes, test, and demonstrate to users.
• Evaluate the software and make a simple written summary of what it does
• Rewrite code to improve clarity and logic.
• Find the specific parts of the code that aren’t working as expected
Sometimes the fix needed will only be to a few lines of code.
For a new function or a new database connection, some new code will probably need to be written. But the new code is likely to be of an “industry standard” type which will not require a lot of time to install and test.
We will need to proceed with a clear Nondisclosure Agreement because databases will almost always contain confidential information.
